Known for portraiture I have diversified developing picture-making skills and exploring various media including mixed media, oil, watercolour, acrylic and etching. I enjoy the creativity of a more experimental approach rather than developing a single style. When visiting my studio you find a variety of work often inspired by sailing to the Scottish Islands. I like using movement and flight as well as an emphasis on changing light.
Although much of my work is rooted in the study of the human form I also enjoy painting flowers and fungi and other natural themes from beautiful and inspiring Argyll.
Graduate of Glasgow school of Art I first worked as an artist painting portraits on cruise ships before I set up a studio in Helensburgh. Later training as a teacher of art at Moray House College, I taught art in secondary schools in Strathclyde and Lothian regions before settling in Argyll to paint in and around this lovely area.
My work has been exhibited and sold in several countries and been included in major national exhibitions and private collections as well as commercial galleries.
I specialise particularly in commissioned work so do not hesitate to ask if you have an idea in mind.
Portraits can be in the landscape setting of you choice.
